What individual therapy looks like at HerSpace
Individual therapy here is built around one person: you. Sessions run 50 minutes, weekly to start, and take place either in our San Antonio office or over telehealth — whichever fits your week. There's no fixed program you're slotted into. Your therapist works from what you bring in each session, and the plan shifts as your life does.
Most women come in carrying more than one thing — a stressful job and a strained relationship, new motherhood and old grief, anxiety that showed up out of nowhere. You don't have to sort it into one tidy issue before you start. That sorting is part of the work.
Standard session length, in-person or telehealth.
Typical pace for the first 8–12 weeks, then adjusted to fit your life.
Who this is for
- Anxiety, racing thoughts, or a nervous system that won't settle
- Burnout, overwhelm, or running on empty for too long
- Major life transitions — career, relationships, motherhood, midlife
- Grief or loss that hasn't had space to move
- Low self-worth, people-pleasing, or losing your own voice in relationships
- Women who've tried therapy before and want something that finally fits
Our approach
Cognitive behavioral therapy
Practical tools for the anxious thought loops and stress responses that keep you stuck — noticing the pattern, then building a different response to it.
Person-centered talk therapy
Space to think out loud without being steered or judged. You set the pace; your therapist follows your lead rather than a script.
Trauma-informed care
Every session is paced with care around sensitive history — grounding first, depth when you're ready, never before.
What to expect
Free 15-minute consultation
A short call to talk through what's bringing you in, ask questions about the process, and see if it feels like the right fit before you commit to anything.
Intake session
A fuller conversation about your history, what's going on right now, and what "better" would actually look like for you.
Ongoing sessions
Weekly or biweekly sessions built around your goals, with room to adjust focus as new things come up.
Progress check-ins
Every few months, you and your therapist revisit what's working, what isn't, and whether the plan needs to change.
Common questions
How long does therapy usually take?
There's no fixed timeline. Some women come for a specific stretch — three to six months around a transition or a stressor — while others stay longer for ongoing support. Your therapist will check in with you regularly about pace and progress.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. Most clients mix in-person and telehealth sessions depending on their week, and some do all of their sessions virtually from anywhere in Texas.
Is this covered by insurance?
Coverage depends on your plan. Our team can help you check your benefits before your first session so there are no surprises.
What if I've never done therapy before?
That's completely fine — most of our first-time clients start with the free consultation call specifically because they're not sure what to expect. There's no assumed starting point.
